To capture screenshots, SnapShot temporarily reads the visible content of the current browser tab. This data is:
- Processed entirely within your browser
- Never sent to any external server
- Discarded immediately after you close the editor
- Never stored beyond your active session
Permissions Explained
- activeTab — Required to capture the currently open tab you choose to screenshot.
- scripting — Required to scroll the page and stitch full-page screenshots together.
- downloads — Required to save your exported PNG, JPG, or PDF file to your Downloads folder.
- storage — Used only to remember your preferences (e.g. hide-scrollbars toggle) locally.
- host_permissions (<all_urls>) — Required so the extension works on any website you choose to capture. No data is read or sent from these sites.
Data We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect:
- Personal information (name, email, location)
- Browsing history or visited URLs
- Screenshots or captured images
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Device identifiers or IP addresses
- Any form of cookies or tracking identifiers
Third-Party Services
SnapShot does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data services. The only third-party library used is jsPDF (an open-source PDF generation library), which runs entirely in your browser and does not transmit data.
Children's Privacy
SnapShot does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The extension has no user accounts and collects no personal data from any user of any age.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the extension constitutes acceptance of any changes.
